Reply problem
-
Hi! I don’t know why, but since yesterday, if someone reply a comment, the reply comment goes up, instead of down. How can I change this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m sorry but I do not know what you mean. You can set whether or not the latest comments are displayed at the top or the bottom. Have you checked your settings?
6. Comments should be displayed with the __ comments at the top of each page – This setting allows you to reverse the order of comments. You can display comments in ascending or descending order. https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/#other-comment-settings
If your setting is correct then type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.
Aside: You are using an old retired theme that no longer supports all wordpress.COM features. The recommendation is to switch themes and that’s easy to do.
re: changing themes
Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another theme found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.
The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.
For changing themes see here https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes
Every theme has detailed theme description page with set up instructions like this one https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sapor/ and a live demo site like this one http://sapordemo.wordpress.com/

Im talking about this: http://kepfeltoltes.hu/151126/Wordpress_reply_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg
The comment with the 11-26 13:05 date should be under my latest comment, aka the one with the 11-25 23:06 date.

Thanks for posting added information for Staff. Please be patient while waiting for their help.

It’s strange, because if I or someone else just write a comment, it won’t cause this thing. But when I, or somebody else reply that comment more than once, this happen. And it’s started yesterday.

Yes I understand that. Staff work their way through all threads tagged for their support from the earliest dates to those with the most recent dates. You need to be patient while waiting for them to get to this thread.

Hi @smhungary,
You are using the oldest-first setting and nested comments. So usually you should see the oldest comments first, then the oldest comment replies first under each comment. I’m not sure why it isn’t working in this case.
Are you seeing it in other posts as well, or just this one?
-
Just to clarify what others are saying……
Although comments are ordered chronologically, the replies to a comment are ordered randomly – sometimes.
The problem is still present whether one has the oldest comment at the top of the page, or the newest comment at the top of the page.
Here is additional information.
1. The comments and replies all have their correct date/time stamp
2. The problem even occurs on posts made 5 years ago. -
Sorry – better spell out my last statement in more detail. Replies to comments in posts made over 5 years ago now show the problem. Up until a few days ago they were fine. Therefore it’s not the act of making a reply that produces the error – it is the page request.
-
This problem always happens since November 26. However, the older comments are still in the correct order.
See that? My reply with the 2015. november 30. date is above of the one with the 2015. november 29. date.
-
The problem potentially affects all posts – whether made before or after the 26th. The fact that your older posts don’t show the problem is just chance. I have many posts – many not touched for several years and they exhibit this problem now, whereas they used to show up fine.
As I said, it is not the act of making a reply that causes the problem.

Hi folks, thank you. That helps. We’ll be working on this and I’ll update you here when we’ve got a fix. Cheers!

Yup, it’ll sort all comments properly now, regardless of when they were made. Cheers, all!
