Replying to comments
-
So I got my first comment a few weeks ago and I tried to reply to it but there was no such option. I could only write a comment to my post. How is a user supposed to be notified that I replied to them? I saw a FAQ that asked this very question but it was dated almost a year ago. It said wordpress doesn’t support directly replying to a comment. So is this still the case a year later? If so, looks like I’ll have to switch to another blog service.

If it is not important to you to have your own reply comments posted on your blog, then you can be notified of all user comments via email, where you can reply to them.
settings–>discussion

people will be able to see if you’ve replied to them on their “My Comments” tab on the dashboard… this shows where they have commented recently, and the post before and after it. Hope this helps

Just as mysterycreature1 says wordpress.com users will see replies in their dash.
Also they can follow all comments via RSS on your blog.
Its a good idea to have that “META” widget in your sidebar, this makes it easier for readers to subcribe to comments. Both these and E-mail replies are very common practices for readers to keep up with comments.

Well, there is no option to do so but this is a technique most people do, editing their comments, edit the coment, at the end of the comment, put your name username then put a colon and put what you want to say, like this
username: message
hope it helps -
You can do that, but then there is still no notification. If you post a new comment, at least you show on the front page of the blog in the Recent Comments widget, provided you’re using it.
- The topic ‘Replying to comments’ is closed to new replies.
