Reply's to another WordPress blog not appearing

Hi,
Yesterday, I made a reply to another WordPress blog. After pressing Post Comment and refreshing the page, the comment didn’t appear.
Several other people had commented successfully.
I had copied my reply text and posted again. This time, WordPress reported that the comment was a duplicate! However, after a second refresh, neither reply appeared.
In this case, I know the blog author and was able to email my comment to him.
Any idea what’s going on here?

Hi Charlie – Likely, the blogger has his site set up to moderate comments, which means your comment wouldn’t appear until he’d approved it. Does that explain it?

In this particular case, I don’t think the blogger is moderating replies. I can’t be 100% certain until I ask, but other people seem to post replies very quickly after posting.
Are there other possible reasons this could be happening. It happened again today. Fortunately, I copied my reply content before sending it off to bit heaven.

Ask the blogger directly. If you continue to post the comment again and again, you will absolutely be classed as a spammer throughout the entire Akismet system, and you don’t want that.

I did ask the blogger recently. Haven’t heard back yet.
BTW, I didn’t post repeatedly. I only did it once as an experiment to change the value entered in the “Name” field. Without success.

And that is not a wordpress.COM blog, so we cannot assist with that at all. It is an independently-hosted WordPress.ORG blog.
