Reporting a blog that I suspect has affiliate links
-
Hi. i recently came across a blog and I think it violates WP.com’s terms of service because it has a link to Amazon (to buy a ‘book of the week’ to which there is no review, and it links out to another blog on blogger through a permanent image in the sidebar). I tried to look for the proper place to report this site but all I came across was ‘report as spam’ (and this isn’t really spam). So, where do I go?
PS. I feel kind of bad telling on this person. Like I’m out to get him :$
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, ‘report as spam’ will work.
Don’t feel guilty. The blogger is probably aware that he / she is violating the tos. If not, it is an issue that only staff can decide. -
Here is an interesting article about spam on wordpress.com (and another reason you should not feel bad!)

Why would you feel bad? If we are all wimps who turn a bloind eye to cheaters, then our blogging platform will become like blogspot which is full od pam blogs and splogs. Surely to goodness we don’t want that.
This is what types of blogs states under Affiliate marketing blogs:
Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (“Make six figures from home!!”, “20 easy steps to top profits!!”, etc). This includes multi-level marketing (MLM) blogs and pyramid schemes. To be clear, people writing their own original book, movie or game reviews and linking them to Amazon, or people linking to their own products on Etsy do NOT fall into this category.
Section 2, bullet 5 of the wordpress.com TOS also states that wordpress.com blogs cannot be used to drive traffic to third party sites.
I’m with Tess on this, report the blog to Staff and let them do the investigating > http://en.support.wordpress.com/report-blogs/

In the 4 years I have been here wordpress.com bloggers have not hesitated to use the report buttons. I have only rarely seen the highschool “don’t tell” mentality posted into forum threads, and if and when it’s exhibited I will not hesitate to speak up and send the kiddies who spew such crappola to their naughty corners.

@timethief,
LOL!
I’ve seen at least one regular poster here who hunts ’em down when bored! -
Hmmmm … that sounds like a plan. Also a good place to find the creepy crawlies, who are sneaking about thinking they are not being detected and their blog is safe from being reported is in threads posted to the Showcase forum … lol :D
