Reporting abuse — response times?
-
Hi there.
I have a WordPress blog, but that’s not my issue at the moment. I recently discovered that someone else with a blog hosted here posted a number of bizarre and demonstrably untrue — and moreover, potentially damaging — things about someone I know several months ago. I reported the abuse to https://wordpress.com/abuse/ a couple of days ago, but haven’t heard anything from WordPress and the content remains unchanged. I attempted to contact the blogger herself, but received no reply and the blog itself appears to be in a state of abandonment.
I am just wondering how long I should expect to receive a reply from WordPress staff. My friend is rather distraught as a result of discovering this mess, and there is no question that the post violated the WordPress ToS.
Thanks and have a great day!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Oh, and chimprefuge.com is my blog, not the blog under discussion — I didn’t mean to include that.

Bumping this in the hope of getting at least a token response. I have reported the same post several days in a row now, and haven’t heard a peep from anyone at WordPress. This is more than a little concerning given the nature of the content. I was hoping to not involve an attorney, but that hope is rapidly diminishing.
Anything?

I guess I will keep bumping this until a moderator takes a few seconds to acknowledge it. The abuse-reporting system is clearly worthless.

The abuse people will probably not get back to you. I have only had the TOS group contact me once when I reported a blog – there were a series of interconnected blogs that were SEO scams – one of the staff contacted me to tell me that he found about 165 blogs related to my reports and to say thanks
TOS action time seems to be from a few hours to a few days
I have also flagged this for a staff response
here are the relevant links for the TOS policy – note – they do have a freedom of speech bias here for things said online

Thanks for responding, auxclass! Yeah, ordinarily I wouldn’t get up in arms about someone merely being a little mean or a little wrong on the Internet; I’ve been guilty of both myself. But in this case there exists a renegade post with a load of factual errors that carries the potential to impact my business.
If I have a lawyer send a cease-and-desist letter, it’ll most likely be enough to get this fool to delete her garbage. Obviously I would prefer that WordPress take care of it, but the chances of this are looking very slim.

Hi @kemibe,
While we don’t discuss individual Terms of Service/Abuse reports, each one is taken seriously and looked at by hand. Where appropriate, our Terms of Service team will take action. However, not every report will have a response sent to the reporter.
You can read more about reporting content here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/report-blogs/I am closing this thread for now, if you have any support related questions feel free to start a new thread.
Also, as a friendly reminder we ask you not to “bump” threads. All you need to do is add the “modlook” tag and staff will take a look, thanks.
