Reporting an Unreportable Follower

  A site followed my site a few days ago, and the site is another one of those “make money blogging” spammers. In the list of followers in the “stats” section on my site, the address of this site shows as
  [spammer].wordpress.com
  but when I go to the site, the address of the site shows as [spammer].com, and there is no dropdown menu in the header with the “report this site” option.
  How can I report this site for spamming?

  You cannot report a site to WordPress.com that is not being hosted by WordPress.com.

  You can, however, generally report it to its current web host. Presumably if you report it to staff here they can do something about the redirect upgrade that is sending you to the other site.

  How can I report it to staff here, then? If the address of the site is not actually “[spammer].wordpress.com”, then I assume WordPress would like to know that this site is misrepresenting itself as a WordPress site.

  No. What happened is they had a site here, bought a redirect upgrade to point that URL elsewhere for spam purposes. I flagged this thread for staff.

  The link that shows in the “followers” section is

  joeseeberblog.wordpress.com

  but when you click on the link it goes to

  joeseeber.com

  Hi Fiona – Yep, that site is redirecting to a self-hosted site. We consider public blogs to be available for anyone to follow however they choose. Since follower information does not appear on your site itself, the best thing to do when it comes to spammy followers is simply to ignore them, so they don’t get any clicks from you.

  Oh, believe me, I’m ignoring it. But it would be nice to be able to delete sites that sign up as followers but are obviously there only as spam.
