Reposting from someone else’s blog

Not sure if this is the right place to add this but I’m wondering how to correctly go about this issue. I want to be able to add a post to my blog that is essentially sending the reader to a post on someone else’s blog. I’m sure this will happen a lot, as I love to read blogs and refer people to particularly good posts. Like and Ohdeeoh thing. But I don’t want to aggravate anyone. If I add a post to my blog and simply put a description of the other blog’s post, why I think it’s good, and then give a link, do I need to worry about notifying that person or getting permission? For WordPress and non-Wordpress blogs. Thanks so much!

You do not need permission; you can even offer a quote from their blog, as long as it’s a snippet, and not the whole juicy bit of the post. For a good example of a referrer blog ( a blog that refers people to other blogs) you can look at BoingBoing. Or even my blog, most of the time.

@proverbialgirlduck Make sure you link back to the exact post from which you have taken the bit. And plus, make sure that the Creative Commons License that the person uses (if they use) allows you to do what you intend.

If you are still skeptical the best advice I can give is to contact the author of the blog (it’s a pain trust me, everybody like pingbacks).
