are you allowed to repost old posts

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, but it’s a terrible idea that will annoy your readers and get you vastly demoted in the search engine rankings. But go ahead!

What if Harry did some sort of “Best of” where he had a new Post that referred back to a way earlier Post or back to a several Posts in the same group of skills or tips? Not a re-posting as such but changes the top of the home page but pushes visitors back into the past.

Or you could do an “Index” page that shows what Posts grouped in some way – Bath, Kitchen. walls, floor or something?

You could also use the “reblog” feature and reblog your own post. That should have minimal impact in the search engines, just add a blurb to the reblog telling people why you are doing it, or to reintroduce it.

I prefer a text widget saying Best Of, or something similar, with links. Yes, you could do a post linking to several posts.

TSP, I can’t even find the reblog feature now. I thought you’d broken Matt!

It’s still there so obviously I’ve not broken him.

Go to a single post page and the like button will show up. Like the post and then you can reblog it.

Is it possible to reblog a collection of one’s own posts and then feature the reblogs together in a single post?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, it’s possible. Anyway, you just reblog each to a separate window or tab, then copy all the code and paste that into a real post that you make. Delete the others.

Interesting that you have to Like the post before you can reblog it. Interesting and ANNOYING from a user perspective. It’s just a way to essentially pimp out their numbers. “Look, we have 3000 Likes and 2999 reblogs!”

I’ve Liked about 17 things on Tumblr. I’ve reblogged about 6,000. Smart people will realize what Automattic’s doing with that, and add a discount filter to their numbers.
