Reposting/republishing a blog to a book or journal

  To Whom It May Concern:

  If an author of a blog were to repost his or her essay to a different form of publication, from being originally posted on WordPress.com, would he or she have to consult with WordPress.com to gain approval to republish that essay? An example would be republishing the content that was originally on WordPress.com to a book or journal. Is there a specific WordPress.com policy on this, or a policy that applies to all blogs?

  No, your original blog content belongs to you. WordPress.com doesn’t hold any copyright over it, so you can republish it where you like.

  One note for future knowledge, though: if you want to republish it on another website, google might see it as duplicate content, which might get you penalized in the search engine rankings.

  Sounds like you have print in mind, though, so this shouldn’t be a problem for you.
