Hello everyone, i am an undergraduate in one of the Nigerian universities.My passion for blogging made me open one just last week but believe me i am really confused about how things work right here.Yes, i have read the wordpress manual and guidelines but i am still more confused.please i really need help from members of this forum in whatever way.Your help will surely go a long way.Thanks for your reply in anticipation

Thanks jason, i really appreciate your reply.Basically, i don’t know how to go about designing my newly opened blog to my own taste.Another problem is that my blog doesn’t appear on search engines like google

Okay.
For design, the best thing to do is mess around in the Site Customizer. You can do whatever you want in there from changing colours and fonts and no changes will be saved until you tell it to save. To get to your Customizer, click on My Sites in the top left, then click on Customize (next to Themes).

WordPress.com automatically sends notifications to Google with every post and page update. The search engines can take 4-6 weeks or more to add any new sites. Connecting a Google account with verified site ownership through Google’s search console may help register your site for inclusion. Please contact Google for more information.So you don’t have to do anything but wait.
The best thing you can do is go through those training pages from my previous post and bookmark the WordPress.com Support page:
