Request Entity Too large

I am trying to import an existing website but the wordpress says it’s too large.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Is the site you created the XML export file from still online? If so post the URL here.
Did you remove all unapproved comments and advertising and spam before you made the XML export file?

Sometimes the importer gets stuck. If the file is large you may have to import Posts, Pages, etc. in separate files. Or if the file is very large Staff may have to do the import.

I tagged this thread with modlook for Staff help for you. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

  • @ldelgarias108 I’ve ensured your site is ready to accept an import file. Please be sure to delete any spam comments, as @timethief suggested, then create the export file again. That should do the trick, but if you need more help, let us know.

Thank you @timethief and @supernovia. I don’t have any spam comments – I always deleted those when the site was up. As for advertising, I have Amazon affiliate links mostly and maybe a few others from affiliate companies I signed up for. I wouldn’t know how to remove those from folders now. Once my DNS propagation is complete, I will try to import the zip file again and I’ll let you know if I am unable to do the import.

  • @ldelgarias108 I actually recommend importing before changing the DNS if at all possible. The importer can’t grab images it can’t reach.

  • Another thing that can make the imports really large: too many tags and categories. If you have unused tags you can try clearing those out.

Or, you can also use a splitter to break the import into smaller parts. Let us know if you need help with that.
