"Request Feedback" button vanished

A plug-in is a great idea. I’d be happy to pay a one-time plug-in fee for that feature. I can’t afford to upgrade to business.

Although, WordPress, if you’re listening — given I only need this feature twice a year for a couple of weeks, I suppose I could upgrade/downgrade as needed and install/uninstall a plug-in?

BTW, I’ve been exporting pages to PDF via the AMP preview link. (This creates a print-friendly version of the text without the various page design elements.) Then emailing and getting approval. It’s not nearly as good as sending the Request Feedback link or being able to use a plug-in.

Much, much better would be to reinstate the feedback function.

I am really disappointed with the removal of this feature. As a single-editor (admin) site with many contributors, I used it for every.single.post. I would paste the share link into a separate email explaining anything I needed the writer to pay attention to. I would get the draft to where I thought it was perfect, then share it with the contributor, and they almost always spotted things they wanted to change, little tweaks, or formatting errors. Two eyes are better than one! Being able to give writers an opportunity to “sign off” on their work before it went live engendered trust between me and my contributors. Completely agree with @jonedgar: posting and then amending posts is not professional. Sharing a screenshot of the Preview is not the same as sharing a link to what the draft will actually look like, where they can scroll and interact with the links.

I’m not sure how it could be improved. It was easy and efficient. The only thing I could say is that sometimes recipients were confused as to whether they should provide feedback via the form or reply to me separately by email (i.e. they weren’t sure if I would receive feedback submitted directly through the form), but I always did without any problem.

Please, please bring it back! I really don’t know how to work without it.

    Dear WordPress.com
First post of this thread was posted more than 2 month ago. You could have read a lot of posts asking for a revival…

By this time you have most probably made up your mind :

So, will Request Feedback reappear, YES or NO ?

    Best,

    Dov

Gotta agree here, one-time fees for plugins which offer essential features such as a replacement to the Request Feedback or new features such as scheduled revisions would be very handy. To many including myself, the Business Plan isn’t worth it, but plugins offered by the Business Plan should generally be enhancements of features. Stuff like this is sort of basic, and even if it wasn’t free, a one-time fee would be a lot better than nothing.

  • Hi @w2132

    – The old feedback tool is not coming back. It would require quite a bit of effort to make it current, and we’ve got other projects in the works right now.

    – At some point we may introduce a new feedback tool, so knowing exactly how you used the old one, how often, what you liked about it, what you would do differently, etc, would be helpful.

This is disheartening news. I feel you are not listening to the customer.

I’ve had to take screenshots of the posts/pages that I’ve created for my client. More ‘unnecessary’ steps. :(

Sad to hear there are no plans to resurrect the old tool. Good to hear that you haven’t completely ruled out the possibility of a replacement.

I used the reviewing tool with every post. There are two people, both complete novices at using computers, who have total review rights on everything. They care about the content (text), photographs, tags and look & feel. Sometimes they’re able to do an edit directly to the post, but usually they make comments and let me do the repair.

Both reviewers are remote, so email is the preferred vehicle.

It’s essential to have the same formatting as the final post. This precludes using a PDF created from the browser “print” function. The PDF is similar, but enough unlike the actual post to be marginally useful at best.

I like to have a record of the comments, so I can honestly say, with backup, that she did or did not make that comment on my draft post.

An email notification when the reviewer replies is essential. I don’t want to have to be checking every half hour for results.

Please seriously consider this function, either as a fee or free add on. It’s essential to my process. Today I’m using a PDF, which is insufficient.

    Thanks.
