Request for Blogger’s Follower Widget

    Hi,
    Can WP introduce Followers widget similar to Blogger’s follower widget through which readers can login and follow?
    I m talking about this one!

    This encourages the author and also makes him introspect where his work stands!

    Appreciate if WP.COM introduces this widget !!

    I’m trying to put google friend connect on my blog but the text widget won’t allow me to enter the whole code so it never shows up

    That’s right: Google Friend Connect doesn’t work here either. But that has nothing to do with the subject of this thread; next time, please add on to one of the Friend Connect threads already in the forum

    Followers widgets leak link juice. I don’t want or need any.

    I’m with @timethief here. It’s a lot more effective posting blog posts/links to Facebook and let FB do its thing by propagating your posts across your friends network.

    [rant] I visit blogs every day that have multiple follower widgets spoiling the design of their blogs. And exactly what purpose do they serve? Every little avatar is an outbound link.

    I have checked to see how many of those “followers” (little avatars) are actually posting comments to the blogs festooned with multple followers widgets. I found that the number of comments from the followers being depicted in the followers widgets was minuscule in comparison to the galleries of followers I counted.

    When it comes to my blogs I don’t post a widget unless it adds reader value because it’s linked to authoritative information sources, and/or it assists readers to navigate to deeper pages in my site. Why? Because the last thing my blogs need is trendy widgets that destroy blog design and dribble link juice out the blog. [/rant]
