Request for Different Blog URL

    I just signed up at wordpress.com and would like to change the blog URL/domain name I have chosen. Do I have to upgrade to do this?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    The top level domain here is WordPress.com and all of our blogs are on .wordpress.com sub-domains. If you want to register another .wordpress.com blog the answer is no. If you want to register your own domain to map to from a .wordpress.com sub-domain then the answer is yes.

    Option 1 (Free of charge)
    You cannot edit any URL. If you want to change the blog address ie. the URL starting with http:// then you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to do that and the URL you desire must be available. If so then you can change the URL by using this guide http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

    Option 2 (Paid Annually Renewable Upgrade)
    See here if you do not own a domain http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

    Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

    Lastly, note that the site title and blog address URL do not have to be the same. The Site title and/or the optional Tagline can be changed on the top of this page at any time. > Settings > General
    “save changes”
    That is exactly where search engine spiders look for the site title and removing it from there can cause issues with getting your content indexed.
