XYZ-TLD4s are supported by wordpress.com – https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/ – so there should be no problem to transfer your domain.
However due to ICAN regulations, newly registered domains are blocked from transfer for 60 days after registration.

After entering the domain name and authorization code, I encountered an error message stating, “Sorry, 145678.xyz is a premium domain. We don’t support transfers of premium domains on WordPress.com.” Therefore, I am currently unable to proceed with the domain transfer.

This thread has been tagged for staff assistance. Have you owned the domain for more than 60 days? Is that message you get just an error that staff can fix or is it that you can register a new .xyz domain here at WordPress.com but you cannot transfer one that you purchased at some other company. You should be able to keep the domain where it is and connect it to a WordPress.com site with a paid plan however.

I need to transfer my domain to wordpress.com. I have unlocked the domain and obtained the authorization code. However, I encountered an error stating, “Sorry, 145678.xyz is a premium domain. We don’t support transfers of premium domains on WordPress.com.”

If you don’t want to keep paying Google and don’t want to just connect the domain here you’ll have to wait for a member of staff. I have seen that message referred to in the past as an error at WordPress.com but then again it may be true (although I would be surprised) that .xyz is classed as a Premium domain( which WordPress.com doesn’t support).

For anyone happening upon this thread via search, at this time, we only support new registrations for premium domains. We are not able to transfer premium-priced domains to WordPress.com from another provider, but you can connect the domain to use with your WordPress.com site instead.
