Hello,
I have got admin rights to a site for a group which is no longer active. The initial owner email has been deactivated and I would like to delete the blog. Could you help at all.http://birminghamgirlgeekdinners.wordpress.com/
I have tried deleting the site myself several times but since the site’s email is different to mine I never get the link confirming deletion.
Thanks for your help :DThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
Every blog has a sole owner and it is the person with the username account who registered the blog under that username account and associated email address. They become the original Admin of the blog and can delete it if they so choose as they are the blog’s only owner. If you are the person with the username account that registered the blog then you can proceed as follows to first recover the account and then delete it.
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard.
Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibilityIf you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If required please complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums which are available to everyone with internet access.

To delete a free hosted WordPress.COM blog you must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered a blog. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click. Once clicked the URL is gone forever.

Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blog content and deleting blogs does not remove any indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months.
-
NOTE: If you are not the blog’s owner or cannot reach the person who is the blog’s owner and have them delete the blog, know that Staff cannot delete a blog based on your say so.

The owner is the only one that can delete a site.
But since you are an Admin (Editors can do the same) – just empty the site so there is no more content left in it. Or I think you could set the site to Private so nobody can read it without an invitation.

Thank Timethief. I am not the person who registered. Their user is no longer active or checking the blog/associated email. I do not have their login details. Hence why I am posting on this forum.
It does not look like its possible to get the blog in question deleted. However with your link to the Dashboard I was able to hide that and a couple of other blogs from showing on my main dashboard – it was getting slightly cluttered.
This should solve the problem for the moment. So this question can be closed.
Cheers, -
