[request] Sphere Widget for WordPress.com
-
If you have feedburner, you already have it. You can place it in your feed, and/or within a post.
Slight clarification. Feedburner services are only available on the feeds of wordpress.com bloggers. Anything requiring access to our actual blogs, whether it’s site stats or tacking on something to a post, is not possible.

Ok it’s on.
I put a bunch of toys on the bottom of this post.
One is of course the Sphere,
You’ll also see the “Email This” – if someone wanted to email that particular story to someone else, they have that option. All of those toys you’ll see along with the Sphere I grabbed from Feedburner.
-
Email’s different. Last I knew, Feed Flare and Site Stats were offlimits on dot com – the necessary scripts were blocked. If Feed Flare’s allowed now, that’s terrific!
-
Gosh darn it would you come look what I just set up for you? I’m tickled pink what I figured out – come see, come see!
-
-
I’m going to thin that back out in a few- I don’t use sphere and several of the others. I put a bunch of them on for the sake of this thread. I suspect sphere will stay on this post for the sake of this thread… just thought of that. Still going to thin it out though, many of those are “repeats”, since the “Add This” captures some of them I suspect.
There are more to do as well. Those I thought would maybe be the most popular. The “Email This” is a popular request in the forums.
-
It certainly is the most popular and the email subscriptions via Feedburner are a great enhancement too. I’ve used that for many months without a problem.
-
That Email “Subscription” link is via RSS FWD actually, not Feedburner. I like it, it seems reliable and I feel that my readers email is secure and they won’t be spammed. I subscribed to myself via RSS FWD also, so that I can experience what my subscribers do, to ensure no nonsense is taking place. So far, so good. I wrote a post on it actually, when folks wanted to know about it once upon a time.
The Feedburner flares are in the dark blue, and the “Email This” is the one I have from Feedburner. This is not my subscriber button, instead this is what a reader would use to mail the article to a friend. They would just click on that button and send it off to a friend, just that article.
The subscribe via feedburner I have in that big square that is also “scrolling” my last 5 posts through it.
I enjoy playing with feedburner. That blue “Pro” button over there is free now – that used to be a paid service – but now it’s free.
-
OK, I’m confused. Are you saying that if I check the box for email this on the feed flare it will insert that into a post on the site? If so, I must have done something wrong because I tested it with a post and it didn’t put that in there.
-
Well, you’ll need to check the box yes, but it will not go directly to your blog post just because you marked the box. It’s not quite that smart.
If you’ve gotten that far, now go to “Optimize”, then “Your Feed” and then simply Copy/Paste.
Walla. Sphere on your blog.

When you pull up “Your Feed” from the “Optimize” screen the “Email This” will be there among your posts. (You said you clicked on it and added it?)
Place your mouse over it and copy it. Go to your blog and pull up thatpost. Edit that post by pasting the “Email This” where you want it. Save.
-
No worries; with over 50 now in this thread your questions will help others. I was going to blog it but I don’t think I need to. If I need to I will so this thread can resolve, whichever is best.
-
No no no… Blog it please!!! And use little words for the clueless among us (*points to self*).
-
oh please Katm you are far from clueless you’re a friggin’ genius. :)
I’ll try to put something together it would be a good distraction. I just lost a pet and I’m all out of sorts at the moment.
-
dissfunktional – there is one itsy problem – when I past that in my post, it ends up in two places on my feed. Just a minor annoyance, BTW
