Request to transfer subscribers from wordpress.com to self hosted website
-
Hi there WordPress Team,
Helping a client get there site setup on a self hosted server, and I’m wondering if you can help us.
We need to move the subscribers from
http://strongbrands.wordpress.com
TO
http://timcalkins.com.s26200.gridserver.com/I’ve followed the instructions and setup Jetpack, verified the site. However, I still can’t see strongbrands.wordpress.com listed under “Move Followers From A WordPress.com Site”
Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated
Regards,
Simon.

Hey there!
Is http://timcalkins.com.s26200.gridserver.com/ the domain you intend to use for your site? Its best to move your subscribers after your domain is completely set up because when you change your domain, our system sees the different domain as a different site and gives you a new ID number.
Let me know if that’s the domain you want to use and I can transfer your subscribers for you.

Thanks for the response Shawna,
Your right this is not our final URL, but rather a staging site while we get everything ready. We will complete the remaining development on this side, and let you know when the site is residing at the final URL.
Greatly appreciate your assistance.
Regards,
S.

Hi Shawna,
Can you please help us?
Originally when posting this request, we also sent an email to support@. Unfortunately it seems this has created a duplicate support request.
WordPress staff has responded by email.

Now we can’t see ANY subscribers in either site…. we originally had almost 600 subscribers … 500 by email and about 100 wordpress followers.
Can you please share with us where these users have disappeared too? We where expecting that the users would now show up in “subscribers” under “users” on our self-hosted website….. is this not so?
Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a million!
Regards,
S.

P.S. To further clarify we used to see over 600 users subscribed to our site here:

Hi there,
It looks like the subscribers were indeed migrated to your staging site. I have migrated them back for you to your WordPress.com site (strongbrands.wordpress.com). When you have completed setting everything up on your new site just let us know and we can migrate them once and for all!
-
Thankyou again to the Happiness Engineers at WordPress for helping us out with this.
Our new site is launched and we are now ready to migrate subscribers, (both email and wordpress) to the new self hosted website
Please let us know if you require any further information.
thanks!

FYI we’ve changed the domain from
http://timcalkins.com.s26200.gridserver.com/
to
however the dashboard in WordPress still shows the old address.
-
we’re referring to the wordpress.com admin panel here:
https://wordpress.com/settings/general/timcalkins.com.s26200.gridserver.com -
I hope I’m not mucking around with your guys process *eek
We just disconnected and reconnected jetpack so wordpress.com registers both the old site and new site at their correct domains.
To clarify timcalkins.com now shows up properly on the wordpress.com dashboard.
-
You haven’t mucked around with anything at all! I went ahead and put through the migration. Within the next hour or two you should see all of your subscribers in your new site’s stats.
Let me know if you have any questions.
