Request to unlink a wordpress.org site linked with Jetpack
-
Hi,
A while ago I linked a wordpress.org site to my wordpress.com account with jetpack. However, the server I’m using for wordpress.org has been having some trouble, so I migrated my posts to a blog hosted on wordpress.com.
Would it be possible to remove my Jetpack-linked wordpress.org site (fluiddruid.co.uk) from my wordpress.com account, so that my account only contains my wordpress.com blog (fluiddruid.wordpress.com)?
Thank you in advance,
Andrew

Hey Andrew,
No problem. I’ve gone ahead and disconnected the Jetpack site from your account.
All the best,

Can I confirm the the best practice for a user wishing to disconnect their old WordPress self hosted account from their WordPress.com account is to make a request in the support forum?(https://en.forums.wordpress.com/)
Is the reason WordPress.org self hosted accounts display on the WordPress.com profile because Jetpack has been installed and then user has used their WordPress.com account to connect? -
@Kathryn, answering these in the opposite order as it makes more sense that way:

That’s correct!

That’s not quite correct. The best practice is for users to disconnect the Jetpack site from the Jetpack plugin itself. Posting to the forum to have the site disconnected is only necessary where the user doesn’t have access to the Jetpack plugin any longer – for example where the site itself has been deleted.
Hope this clears things up!

I have the same problem with my profile. It was long time ago when I started experimenting with WordPress and now I have 7 extra blogs on my profile.
I would only like to leave my personal blog available: josbgs.wordpress.com
Thank you,

@josbgs — I’ve removed the WordPress.org sites from your account, so all that’s left are your two WordPress.com sites. If you no longer need both of those, you can set one to private or delete it permanently.
