Reregistering my domain

  Why do I have to pay such an exorbitant late fee for domain registration? It should be capped at a certain amount. Certainly not 500% of the annual fee!

  The late fee is set by the Registrar and not WordPress.COM. WordPress.COM just passes the fee on to the user for domain names that are in Redemption.

  I am sure that is the information passed along to you, but I used to work in the industry, and that is a NONSENSE answer. Perhaps you can pass along the registrar contact information to me, so I can contact them directly, or I can just look them up…

  Them you should know all about doing a whois – and they will send you back here –

  I do know about whois. My point is that I am completely unfamiliar with ANY domain holders that charge 5 cents a day for domains. They RELEASE them. Which means YOU are choosing to charge the fee.
  I was in school and no longer using the email I had registered with. Regardless, it is a HORRIBLE business model you are following.
  I would happily pay the fee to renew, but I am not paying a late fee of that price. I could have registered for 5 years for that price.
  The decision makers in this situation must be out of their minds.
