Research

Hello, we are looking to create a blog-type website for our research project. We are looking to create resources on this blog and distribute to the participants within our research trial to see the feasibility of the resources we create.

    1. What plan would you recommend for a research trial based blog website?

    2. We need to be able to track individual access e.g. to see which participant accessed what resource on what day/time and for how long etc.

    3. Will we be able to provide access to this website/blog via email and password? Will it be one overall general email/pass for our research trial OR individual for each participant

    4. Will we require domain? What other expenses?

    Thanks

  • Hi there,

You will need at least the Business Plan for this. The Business Plan costs $300 a year.

To restrict access to only specific people, each with their own password, and to track who accessed what, when, you’ll need at the very least a membership plugin, and possibly other plugins as well for the tracking part.

I’m afraid I cannot advise you on which plugins to use, though. For that type of advice it’s best to ask the WordPress.org community – they are the people who make the WordPress software itself, and plugins for that software. So they simply have more expertise in exactly what you’ll need for the specific features you’re looking for.

You can post in the WordPress.org forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ to ask about which plugins would be best.

You don’t need a domain – we provide you with a free staging domain you can use – but the plan does include a free domain for the first year, so that is an option that’s available to you. From the second year the domain would renew at an additional cost.

You might also find that the best plugin for your needs ends up being a premium plugin. A popular membership plugin, for example, is WooCommerce Memberships, which is currently a $120/year subscription. Such a plugin you’d have to buy directly from the company/developer that makes it, and the cost is not included in the plan you buy from us.

Let me know if you have any more questions about this.
