  I think I reserved the blog name http://www.britishgirlthoughts.wordpress.com when I typed it in but then when I went to transfer it said it was unavaliable
  please advise

  What are you trying to transfer? Are you trying to transfer some upgrades to a different blog of yours or are you trying to transfer the Ownership of the blog to another account or trying to transfer your site subscribers to another site you own or are you trying to change your blog address?
