Reserved blog name

  Hi there,
  I would like to use jillgriffin.wordpress.com and it tells me this name has been reserved. I think I may have reserved it or my husband did a few years ago. Is there any way to tell if I have that name reserved or if it is actually another party? How do I get it if I am the one who reserved it?

  If you own the matching username account and have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
  and click the “need more help” link if necessary.

  Thank you but this still didn’t help. I own the domain jillgriffin.com through another host company so I could link my blog to my domain name but then I will be paying to link. It is also possible that someone else has reserved jillgriffin.wordpress.com and they aren’t using it.

  It does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com blog URL is when you are domain mapping. It’s irrelevant. Follow these instructions if you already have a domain that you registered elsewhere, and you want to map that domain to your free hosted wordpress.com blog. http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

  Yes it is possible but once again that’s irrelevant in the domain mapping context.

  There is no expiration date on blogs unused or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog then there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

  In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.

  if you are not successful, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

  Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.
