hi, i registered with wordpress.com as tonofwool with the email address of (email visible only to moderators and staff), and the domain of tonofwool.wordpress.com
after registering and logging in, i went to use that domain, only to find out that it was reserved, and was given the option of: tonofwoolblog.wordpress.com
how do i use the tonofwool.wordpress.com domain that i have?

Hello
Are you using the same username that created tonofwool.wordpress.com to login? I ask that because tonofwool.wordpress.com is reserved to tonofwool username, which is you! :)
If you are still having issues, only the staff can help you, so then I would recommend to you to tag this topic as “modlook” into the sidebar on this thread. Then to subscribe so your are notified when Staff respond look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.
Hope that helps

yes – here i am, but where is http://tonofwool.wordpress.com, and why can’t i use it?
pedger, how did you work out that the name was reserved for me? -
Hi tonofwool
That’s because every username has the rights on their username.wordpress.com
Like I am the owner of pedger.wordpress.com….
from https://en.support.wordpress.com/create-a-blog/ :
Reserved Site Names/URLs
When a WordPress.com user signs up for an account we reserve the URL of their username. So if they signed up for the username of exampleuser we would reserve exampleuser.wordpress.com for them. There is nothing we can do to unreserve it and you will need to choose a different name.
Let’s wait for staff to see what’s going on here. They process the topic in a first-in-first-out basis, so it may take a bit to you receive their answer.

Hi there,
As pedger mentioned, the blog tonofwool.wordpress.com is reserved for you, since you own the username tonofwool. You can create a new site at that address by logging in to your account and starting here:
If you run into trouble with that process, please let me know!

rachelmcr,
that is my problem – I CAN’T create a new site at that address with tonofwool. when i go through the process of creating a site by choosing a template etc, i get tonofwoolblog.i’m now also unable to login using chrome. firefox is able to remember tonofwool, and i’m automagically in, but with chrome, when i complete the login + password fields, they come back blank.
i’ve tried using dateline for passwords, same problem. disable dashlane, problem again. i’ve simply been trying to reply to a blogpost using a wordpress login for the past 3 days, and can’t, due to this problem.
i’ve had previous logins – gusseting + kyliegusset with the same problem – can’t get in, domain is reserved, can’t access it, know the domain is mine because I have gravatar, yet, can’t get wordpress to acknowledge that these are mine, and send me an email.
wordpress.com is getting very, very, frustrating.

Do you have the Alexa page rank extension installed in your Chrome browser? There is a known issue with that browser extension that causes problems like the ones you mentioned, so you’ll need to disable or uninstall that extension to continue using WordPress.com.
That can also cause trouble when you try to create a new site (since the extension logs you out, and you can only create that reserved site when you are logged in to your account).
If you don’t have that browser extension, or if disabling doesn’t resolve it for you, please let me know.

Rachelmcr – thanks for sorting me out re: the login problem – all sorted!
now we’re back to the original:
how do i use the tonofwool.wordpress.com domain that i have?when i go to start a site, i get offered tonofwoolblog – how do i use tonofwool which is reserved for me?
-
Whew, I’m glad that login problem is sorted. :)
You should be able to create a site at tonofwool.wordpress.com since it’s reserved for you, but I see that there’s a problem with that and our system isn’t letting you create that site. I’m checking with our team about that problem and will let you know when I have more information!

Hi there! Thanks for your patience while we investigated this. For now, you can log in with your username tonofwool and use this link to register that reserved domain:
https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?new=tonofwool
If you continue to have trouble with it, please let me know.

Thank you. Given that it’s taken a month to get this sorted I’m wondering how this issue might be smoother for others? I wouldn’t wish a month wait on a simple login for anyone.
-
Hi tonofwool, sorry for that. It was a more isolated issue, but we’ve found and fixed the bug that was causing it.
