Reserved names
-
I was looking at moving my blog to wordpress when i spotted my name was reserved, this is somewhat concerning, as i’m a local politician, and our local elections are about a month away where i will be standing for re-election, so as you can imagine I like to keep an eye on my public image as im a public figure here. the website in question is adamcrickett.wordpress.com and proof of name etc http://www.camborne-tc.gov.uk/councillors-north-ward.php#39 you can also send requests for confirmation at the email address on the Camborne Town council website, which i hope you note is a .gov.uk, which should lend some credence to this. many thanks. Cllr Adam Crickett, Camborne Town Council.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When we register a username account the matching blog is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username account.
As you do not appear to be the owner of the matching username account you cannot claim the blog.
Setting that aside, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

My guess is that you are not the only Adam Crickett in the whole world – since you are a politician you should be using a custom domain name anyway and not a free name on a web site – more class – and if you do map a custom domain name to a blog here as noted above the base blog does not matter – – or if you want to be close register “acrickett” it is not taken
