I would like to create a new blog and it says the site is reserved but when I type in the url into google it says it doesn’t exist.
Is it possible to free up the url and use for my blog?

That’s not possible. Usernames can be turned into blog addresses, but blog addresses cannot be turned into usernames. For most usernames and blog addresses are the same. When we register a WordPress.com username account the matching blog is automatically reserved for our future use. That reserved blog cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username.

You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

Somewhere else on forums it said you can request support to free up the blog name.
It’s a shame that the site does not exist in the virtual world but yet you can’t use it either….

I have been here for over 6 years and I know that what you ask is not possible. If the domain name is important to you then I suggest you purchase your own as the underlying .wordpress.com subdomain URL doesn’t matter then.

I am a Volunteer and if you want me too I will flag this so Staff will tel you the same thing I did. I know that is what they will say because I got my answer from Staff.

considering you seem to have all the answers, will my username always show when I have a forum post. If my username is my name, does that mean I have to change it to something else so that my name won’t show publicly?

Yes your username will always display here in the forums even if you choose to create a nickname aka display name.
Read the information presented on this page very carefully. Important:You will not be able to change your username back. The old name will be reserved and no one will have access to it. URLs for other services such as Gravatar and IntenseDebate may be affected.
