Reserved Urls?

    Hello,

    What does it mean to have a reserved url? I’m trying to create a multimedia journalism portfolio for school and wanted to use “astoldbynicole.wordpress.com”. I tried to search for it, however it says that it does not exist. Just wondering if there way any possible way I could use it, since it seems that no one is using it.

    It seems someone has a username astoldbynicole so WordPress.com will reserve astoldbynicole.wordpress.com for them even if they did not create the blog yet.

    Please check @thesacredpath ‘s response on this to understand why this is done.

    That is done on purpose. What if you had the username gonzo and I registered that blog name and then did something on that blog that was totally offensive to you? Because the blog name matched your username, people would likely assume that you were involved in it.

    In future kindly do a search in the forums before posting a question. Your issue would have been most likely seen by someone else before you.
