Reset account settings ( import tumblr blog that used to have a custom domain )
-
I want to import my blog from tumblr into wordpress
I was not aware that custom domains are not supported.
So I mistakenly tried to run the importer before removing the custom domain from tumblr. The custom domain is now removed and dns propagation is done, more than 24 hours have passed can already see my blog with out the custom domain.
However but the WP importer keeps “seeing” the custom domain and prevents me form importing.

I cleared the browser cache and removed then re-added the importer tool and the problem still persists!
I saw on multiple occasions that support staff “resets” something on the end-users settings, so import can be done then.
So please reset my importer, so I can import my tumblr properly, after having it removed the custom domain already.
Thanks Sincerely.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please if possible also delete my thread after fixing my issue as i don’t want to clutter the forum with the same thing already resolved.

Hello!
I can see that you are facing issues while importing your previous site to WordPress.com. You can import your site here, which requires a WordPress.com site. If you have already done the same, follow the steps mentioned in the document here: https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-from-tumblr/.
Let me know if you have any further questions!

This generic reply is not sufficent.
I have already gone though this link and tried the process. but failed, thus my thread.
Please read my thread before responding.
Thanks

I need a support staff member to reset the imported on my, similar to how it was done here, similar to how it was done here:

Another instance of this issue, different user, same issue:
https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/import-tumblr-custom-domain/ -
exactly the same issue – but even thought my custom domain was already removed, WordPress’s Tumblr importer is not letting me import, with the same error that i have a custom domain.
DNS propagation is done, a lot of time has passed.
I need a WP support staff member to reset my importer, similar to how it was done for the other users. That’s is it, thanks in advance.

Ok!
If you are not satisfied with the solution, please wait for the staff’s response to your topic as your thread is under the “mod look” tag.
Thanks for your patience! -
Thank you for trying to help me, appreciate it!
I added the tag myself, I hope this is OK, ( saw another thread where staff advised to do this)

I tried but same result. Not sure what else to try.
Perhaps reset it once more?
Thanks!

Hey there,
I’ve reset that importer state for you.
Out of curiosity, does this work when the WordPress site is public and not set to Coming soon?
-
Greetings. I was not aware that this is a pre requisite. I launched the site now.
I will try from another device as more than 3 days have passed and I still get my old custom domain show up in the importer, no matter how many times i clear cache and cookies and re log /disconnect the WP importer and connect it again to my tumblr.
(I also have a ZIP, but I saw that ZIP import is unsupported.)
The annoying bit is that by disabling my custom domain my main site, which I simply wanted to mirror here is also not available, causing me downtime.
-
Tried from a completely different device with different internet connection.
Logged in to WP, choose import – authenticated tumblr to use WP imported (read write privileges), and the importer still sees my custom domain, despite it being disabled for 4 days now.
I deliberately choose WP hosted, specifically due the tumblr import function., however with the constant problems I am having on step 0 (import), I am on the verge of giving completely up and requesting a refund.
Please help me.

Just to note, I reset the importer status again from this end, in case it can help. I understand you disconnected Tumblr from your WordPress.com account in the importer settings; I did want to also ask if you had a chance to remove WordPress.com from connected apps in your Tumblr account, before trying to reconnect? (information here: https://help.tumblr.com/hc/en-us/articles/226170627-Application-access )
As far as we can see, there shouldn’t be anything else which is caching the custom domain on our end! I’m checking in case there’s anything else I can find, but in the meantime if you have a chance to ensure that WordPress.com is removed from your connected apps within your Tumblr account too, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help
Yes, I go in tumblr, manually revoke the WP access, then reconnect.
I am at a stalemate because tumblr tells me to seek support from WP, and WP tells me to seek support in tumblr. Meanwhile it has been 5 days and the import has not even started and my main site is offline.
I will request a refund.

forgot the second screenshot showing confirmation for removaland then removed
Still when i go to import, re – allow the imported – it Still sees the custom domain.

i would gladly pay if it worked. when it does not there is nothing to pay for.
best regards
