Hi there,
You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.com hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do a lot of work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme with different features and/or if you have done any CSS editing.
Provided you have logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.
The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.
In case you also want to empty your site, you can do this by following the Empty Site instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/
Be aware that you won’t be able to access the content once you’ve deleted it.
Hope all the information helps!
Thanks!

I’d like to keep the current theme but reset it to the original theme look. Based on what I’ve seen from other posts that’s something that people who work for wordpress can do for me, but I can’t on my own. Can someone help me with that?

Hi there!
@sorindc, I’m not sure what you mean by the original theme look – it’s not possible to reset the theme settings. Each theme has its own instructions to set up to recreate the demo look. The newer themes also come with a demo homepage you can replace with your own content. Is it that page you’d like to have back on your site? Also, remember that with your plan you can access support directly via https://wordpress.com/help/contact. That way you can get help faster.
@vinitdhake, you’re providing instructions for WordPress.org sites, instead of WordPress.com ones. To change your theme you’d go to My Site>Design>Themes. -
Hi staff-mckluskey,
My apologies for the mistake. And, thanks a lot for correcting me.
Would definitely make a note of it and apply next time.
Thanks!
