Reset redoable lite css?
-
Hi,
I’m not happy with my adventures in CSS – it’s not for me. Along the way I have messed up my CSS and the blog now looks rubbish. Can anyone advise how to reset the CSS to the original redoable lite theme? http://www.nialllmcgann.wordpress.com It is hosted on the wordpress server and I don’t have any backup of the original CSS. I tried support but I was directed to the forum…any help appreciated

To restore your original CSS:
1. Copy all the CSS from the CSS editor and paste it into a text file on your computer (so you can use it later if you want).
2. Delete all the CSS out of the CSS editor.
3. Select “Add to existing stylesheet” and click “Save Changes”. -

{Thanks for two very useful copy and paste entries … lol … bookmarked} :)The correct blog url is: http://niallmcgann.wordpress.com/
Advice: This is a photoblog with many large images on the front page. When images are too large for the blogging space they break the lay out and the sidebar falls to the bottom. Moreover many large images on the front page increases page loading time. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/25/how-big-can-my-images-be/
Also all images ought to optimized and pre-sized previous to uploading them. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/08/optimise-your-images/
Lastly the number of posts on the front page can be reduced to make loading time faster. -> Options -> Reading
scroll down to
Blog Pages
Show at most: ____posts
reduce the number of posts on the front page and click “Update Options” to save. -
Hi,
Thanks for this. How does it look now that this has been actioned? I can’t see the changes even after clearing my browser cache so would you mind having a look? http://www.niallmcgann.wordpress.com

Please note that no wordpress.com blog urls contain “www”. This is the correct url for your blog http://niallmcgann.wordpress.com/
Using firefox 2.0.0.8 your blog looks exactly like the original Redoable Lite, prior to the css editing. I checked using IE7 too and it’s fine. However, you really need to follow my advice above – optimize nimages, reduce their size and/or reduce the number of posts on the front page. Why? Because anyone using dial-up service (i.e. the majority of internet users) will simply not bother waiting for your blog page to load. :)

Thanks timethief. I got a friend to check it who is on IE6. It still looks like it has no CSS. We cleared her temp files and cookies etc and reloaded the browser. Still the same! What is it about wordpress blogs?? I could not see that mine was wrong in the first place (presumably because the page was cached first time out when all was fine) and she can’t see it now that it’s right! We have both deleted the temp files and cookies… any ideas? http://niallmcgann.wordpress.com
