  • Hi there,

To be sure I understand, you are trying to set up your site with demo content similar to what you see here? https://wordpress.com/theme/argent

Happy to help with that but before we proceed, do you need to save any content to your computer? If we add demo content it will permanently delete the content you have on your site now, so let us know you are ready to start.

    Thanks for confirming.

    Hello Jerry,

I am in a way wanting to reset my site to the original state before I started experimenting. I seem to have permanently deleted something that is preventing me from editing my landing page.

I was trying to set up my site in the way https://wordpress.com/theme/argent looks and feels <– Are you saying you can help with demo content similar to this one?

I do not need to save anything, everything on it is just experimentation.

  • Hi there,

I seem to have permanently deleted something that is preventing me from editing my landing page.

Looking at your site logs, it looks like what you deleted may have been the landing page, which would explain why you can no longer edit it :)

So you can actually just create a new page and set it as your front page, or else publish one of your two existing pages (both are currently drafts), and set that to your front page instead. (If the issue is that you don’t see the “Homepage Settings” option in the Customizer, that’s because you don’t currently have a published page that can be set as the homepage).

Go to Pages ->All Pages, and either edit one of the pages there or create a new one. In the editor, make sure you set the page template to Front Page:

Lastly, make sure you publish the page – a draft page cannot be set as the front page. (No one will see your site until you launch it, so you can publicly publish everything while you experiment so the site will work correctly.)

Next, go to Appearance ->Customize, where you’ll now the the Homepage Settings option. Click on that, select Static Page, and select the correct page under “Front Page”.
