Reset site for import
-
Hi,
I downloaded WordPress to my localhost to develop a site that was already created. Now I wish to import the site into the existing URL but none of the changes will overwrite. I tried deleting all posts, pages, and media, but it wasn’t enough. Can you please help me reset the data so an import will change the site pages? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The only content that can be imported to a WordPress.com site is posts, pages and comments exported from another site in the form of an XML file. On a WordPress site that export option is found under Tools ->Export in the dashboard.
It is not possible to upload your locally built site to WordPress.com at all and there is nothing I can reset that will make that possible. That local site uses the self-hosted version of WordPress, called WordPress.org, and needs to be uploaded to a server – either your own or with a hosting provider like Pressable or Bluehost.
You can read here about the differences between the two versions of WordPress:

I didn’t realize that was the case. Thank you for taking a look. I’ll consider other options.
