Reset to Classic Editor Please
-
I understand older sites like mine can have something changed by someone at WP to reset it to use the Classic Editor. So I am making that request. Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
It is no longer possible to set the default editor on a site to classic, as we’re in the process of completely removing the classic editor in My Sites from WordPress.com.
If you prefer to use the classic editor, it can now only be accessed from WP-Admin, here: https://gregbeau.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

The block editor breaks up my captions into several lines when I’m editing, so I can’t see what it looks like until it saves. That really sucks. It’s really annoying to have to search for my post in WP-Admin instead of having it go to the classic editor by default. If I was starting over after this fiasco, I would not use WordPress.

So those users who had this done for them by staff earlier this year are now also out in the cold? Yikes.

Thank you for the link. It is not obvious how to get from that page to one that allows for use of an easy-to-use editor but I managed to ferret something out from that point that will work.
I do find the message at the top of the screen touting the block editor as easy to use unintentionally hilarious. I wish I could understand the thinking that led to making this so difficult.

I don’t think you can go back. Unfortunately, it appears this new method is here to stay. BUT… there is a loophole. If you Create or edit a post, then click on the plus sign (Add Block), you should see something that says “Classic” When you click on it the Classic format emerges on the block. If you do NOT see “Classic” then click on “Browse All”. A menu on the left side of the screen will pop up and you will see “Classic”. The following link below would provide more insight…

Hi,
You can try to access the Classic editor using this link.
https://wordpress.com/support/editors/#classic-editor
There is also a Classic block that is similar to the Classic editor.

The classic editor is being retired.
Here is information about how to use blocks.

Using blocks with a little practice you may find is not as difficult as it might seem.
