Reseting my dalycommunicationsma.wordpress.com site
-
I just added a new site (dalycommunicationsma.wordpress.com) to my group of wordpress pages and used the Twenty Seventeen theme. I was able to change the header image and tried to eliminate the other stock images that separated sections of the page and replace them with my own images to personalize the page, but I can’t figure out how to place my uploaded images in the locations where the stock images had been.
Is that possible or am I required to use the stock images to separate the sections of text?
Thanks in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi millcitymauler,

The demo images can be replaced with your own images. If you tell me which image you would like to change first, I’ll take a look for you :)

I was able to remove the stock images but now I have just a continuous section of text. Just can’t figure out how to insert new photos in the layout.

Hi millcitymauler,
Just can’t figure out how to insert new photos in the layout.
The front page of millcitymauler.wordpress.com is set to display your latest posts. Do you want to add images to the content of those posts? Some of the posts already contain images but others do not.

It’s actually the dalycommunicationsma.wordpress.com page that I’m trying to insert images on. The header image was easy enough to change but it is the other images that I was trying to replace but couldn’t figure out. Then when I deleted them altogether, there was no obvious clue as to how to insert my own images. I know how to insert them when you open a text block, but I want to have them inserted into the basic framework of the page so they act as separators for the different sections.

It might be best if you can reset the page to its first version, with the stock images intact (or simply reinsert the deleted photos from the Twenty Seventeen template). I’m familiar with how to switch out the header image – that’s pretty easy. But if you could supply step-by-step instructions on how to replace the remaining stock images with my own photos it would be greatly appreciated. That’s what I tried to do but effectively turned the blog from immersive to static.

Hi millcitymauler,
On the Twenty Seventeen theme, the images dividing the front page into sections are featured images. To insert a featured image:
- Go to My Sites > Pages
- Select one of the pages displayed in Front Page Section 1 Content (Customise > Theme Options)
- Add a featured image in Page Settings > Featured Image
- Click Update
The recommend size for featured images is 2000px wide by 1200px high. There is a complete list of image sizes in the Quick Specs section at the bottom of the theme documentation page:
https://wordpress.com/theme/twentyseventeen
I can reset your theme to look like the Twenty Seventeen demo site but if your existing pages don’t have featured images, you will still need to add them back again. However, if you would like me to reset the site I’m happy to do that for you.
Let me know how you get on and if there are any other areas you would like to add images to.
