Resetting username
-
I sent the following over a week ago and would like a response since the problem is related to an university assignment:
I have used WordPress in the past and currently have an account with you (“saffrondawn”). I am using the service again for a Journalism class I am taking this semester in university. Since I already have an account, the username comes up as “saffrondawn.”
I added a new blog address (“carmenwrsj”), but found it did not work as the username and password I would sign in with, which is what my instructor informed my class to do. I tried to rename the username, but that did not work as many times as I tried and even changed the email address on my primary account (“saffrondawn”). After finding out this did not work, I permanently deleted “carmenwrsj.” Unfortunately, when I decided to create a new account with a new email address, the username (“carmenwrsj”) was already taken, which the server would read as myself.
I would not bother with this predicament if it were not the fact that I have to create a blog under “carmenwrsj” per instructions from my instructor. I understand that once an account is deleted from WordPress, it can never be restored, but I was hoping for an exception, or another way around this. Is there a way to clear my “carmenwrsj” account or reset the email, so I am able to create the “carmenwrsj” account under a username, instead of just a blog attached to my primary account (“saffrondawn”).
Thank you for your time.

Unfortunately, there is no way around that. Once a username or blog name is deleted, it can never use used as either a username or blog name again.
