Resetting WordPress

Hi, I would like to restore my WordPress to the default settings. I just found that I need to use wp reset, but when I would like to install it, I got a message that it is not supported on WordPress.com. What should I do? I desperately need help. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi there,

What is the address of the site you are referring to? It doesn’t sound like you are referring to any of the sites currently under your account.

Please note that these forums are for WordPress.com-hosted sites only. If your site is using the open-source WordPress.org software, we won’t be able to help you out and you’ll want to seek help at these forums:

    Hi Darnell,

I have two sites on ‘private’ visibility.

I have joined wordpress.com several years ago but just a week ago I decided to learn to make my own website. I followed several tutorials but then I confuse and end up making a lot of mistakes, such as the pages do not show on the menus. I have to types all the pages I made on the customize –> menu, but after I’ve made all the menus, they do not show on my website. Therefore I decided to restore to the default setting so I can learn from scratch again. Is it possible to do it or should I make a new account at WordPress.com?

  • Hello there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

It’s totally possible to start again, please see this guide on how to empty a site here: https://wordpress.com/support/empty-site/

It sounds like with the menus, you needed to set the menu as a primary menu as seen here: https://wordpress.com/support/menus/#create-a-menu

    I hope this helps.
