Resize downloaded images and revise images in existing posts

    Hello. My featured image that I am displaying on all posts fills the monitor, and my blog is below it. The image is enormous in size. In the Dashboard/Media dialog box I cut the size in half to 832 x 1162.5, as the forum suggested. This is all that I could find on the subject that I could understand. I know some basic coding. I deleted the image and reloaded it after the change. The image is still the same on my blog page. How do I bring the image down to an attractively scaled visual and show off the my writing, which no one can see now unless they scroll completely down the entire page. I suppose I should have resized it before I downloaded it, but the images have been downloaded? Now what can I do to resize them? I tried to edit the image as stated above. Thank you.
