Resize images to clear up space

    Hello,

So I have used almsot 7gb of the 3gb (I had some storage upgrade before, but it seems like they have removed that option and now only offer the premium upgrade…)
Uploading images on my site is important to me, and I do not want to delete any photos that are in my posts right now. However I know that I have uploaded the original size files (which can be anywhere from 4-10mb big)
If I were to resize the photo in the library to already uploaded and attached images, would they be reduced in size (mb)?

I find it quite odd that WordPress now only offers a premium upgrade since 99 dollars is a lot, and I don’t want all of what is included, only more photo storage…

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you delete images from your media library then they are no longer on wordpress.COM servers. The result is broken links instead of images in every post and page you embedded them into. https://en.support.wordpress.com/space-upgrade/

That is not what I was asking though.
I was asking if I RESIZE the photos in the librarys own editing tool, the pixel size, if the photo’s size (the mb size) is reduced if I do?

If you delete an image and then upload another resized image of the correct dimensions for each image in each post or in each page it will take forever. There is no automatic resizing so be clear on that.

You still does not seem to understand what I am explaining.
I am not deleting any photos. Only resizing them. I know it can take forever and I don’t care. I just want to know if what I’m asking is possible or true?

In my media library where I have all the photos I have attached to posts I can click on an image I have uploaded, click on EDIT the image, where I can chooze to RESIZE the pixelsize of that said photo. Let’s say the photo was 4000×3000 when I uploaded it (and about 5 mb big) if I then use the editing tool that is built in in the media library (not a stand alone program on my computer or anything, just the wordpress media library editing) and change the size of the photo to 2000×1500, will the size of the photo get smaller? The MB size.

    I do understand you.

Have you tried doing this resizing in the image library by using a single image that’s already in your media library and already embedded into a post or a page as an example?

I did. Total used space went up 1mb.. Which is extremely odd as well.

Removing the 20 dollar storage upgrade and replacing it with a 100 dollar premium upgrade was a shitty move…

Frankly, I expected it. The free media storage space allocation is generous yet I have spent years seeing people upload HUGE images right off their cameras into TINY spaces without optimising them for the web or resizing them prior to uploading.

I have always optimised and pre-sized my images to fit exactly where I will embed them prior to uploading them. That means I get the best image quality, I don’t exhaust my free media storage space, and I don’t have to do any troubleshooting.

Yeah. That is what I’ve done recently sadly. Since I had enough space I never thought i’d ever fill it up, but apparently I did. Plus my edited ones could reach 10mb each. I was just too lazy to resize them for the web. What would you suggest is a good size for internet?
I wish I could just reupload but I wont be able to since im like 4gig past my storage limit, so i’d have to do waaaay to much at the same time and not one post at the time…
