resizing images

i don’t know what happened, but i used to be able to resize how my images displayed just by changing it in the html code. but nope, doing that leaves the image the exact same size.
as a demonstration, i changed the html in this post (http://ronnyis.com/?p=2358) from the original…
…to something a little different (see height)…
but there are no changes in the post.
what am i doing wrong?

i am using WordPress 3.0.4 with the Twenty Ten 1.1 theme.
here are my media settings for image sizes:
Thumbnail size: 50×50
Medium size: 300×300
Large size: 600×0 -
