Resizing images for blog posts

  I’m having great difficulty when trying to set up blog posts and add images, the images are too large.Is there a specific size I need to resize the images too when uploading to media library that will fit my website. The new post I tried to add looked fine when viewing through the iPad but not so good on mobile devices so I’ve removed it,

  I know how to resize but not how to do so correctly.

  I wonder is this an issue with the theme created by the web developer , I’d really love someone to shed some light as I’m lost with this one
