Resizing the size of my slideshow pictures and its margins

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to make a slideshow block at the bottom of my homepage but I don’t understand how to edit both the image size and the margin size because like when I do the photo thing and I just go to “proportion de taille” in the setting when I put it as miniature the margins don’t follow so it just gives me the small sized picture that I want with a whole lot of greyspace in between the different slides so how do I make the grey background thing not take up the whole width of the page (also I only have the premium subscription level if that changes anything)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi @thajservicesplus,

I understand that you’d like to create a Slideshow block and add thumbnail images. What you’re experiencing is a known limitation of the Slideshow block. Even if you set the image size to thumbnail in the block settings, the slideshow container still spans a wide area, resulting in grey padding or empty space around your images.

As a workaround, I recommend using the Gallery block instead, which gives you more control over the layout and spacing of your images. You can customize the number of columns, image size, and whether or not the images are cropped. This often results in a cleaner, more compact look.

You can follow this guide to add a Gallery block:

Additionally, since you’re on a Premium plan, you have access to 24/7 priority support from our Happiness Engineers. I highly recommend reaching out directly through this channel rather than using the public forums.

    Hi @thajservicesplus

I’ve worked with the Twenty Twenty-Four theme too, and I totally get the frustration with the Slideshow block’s grey space issue — especially when using smaller image sizes like “thumbnail”. The container unfortunately doesn’t resize with the image, so you’re left with a lot of unwanted margin or padding. ✅ Workaround That Worked for Me:

Try using the Gallery block instead of the Slideshow block:

    • It gives more control over layout, spacing, and number of columns.
    • You can set exact image sizes and avoid that grey padding problem.
    • Bonus: It looks cleaner on both desktop and mobile!

Here’s a full guide on using the Gallery block

    Some Tips:

    • When adding images to the Gallery, choose the “Crop images” option if your pictures are different sizes — this helps maintain alignment.
    • Adjust the columns and link settings to customize it to your liking.

Since you’re on the Premium plan, don’t forget you also get access to live chat support with Happiness Engineers — they can guide you step by step for your specific layout needs.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes, or if you’d like help styling the Gallery block to mimic a slideshow feel.
