Resolution & view problems
-
I had to do a re-install today, and now I notice my blog doesn’t look as comfy as it was. Having a 15,4 inch and a 1680-1050 resolution, I have to zoom the page in, as usual. But the zoom does not hold after closing the browser down. I’m still trying to work out why that doesn’t happen.
That aside, with a 125% zoom the template does fill out better, but gets widened on the left and right side much, that the Dashboard, New post and Search options move out of sight for the most part. That wasn’t how it was, before the re-install. Zooming out again, they return in view, but makes the template with text & images too tiny once more.
I also noticed that my text editor field has become very broad, making it difficult to read the long lines, they fill the screen almost from the left end to the right end. I feel that I”m forgetting an important adjustment, but don’t know which one.Perhaps someone can give me the adjustments he or she uses? With a 15,4 inch screen, that is?

Here at wordpress.COM we do not have FTP access to our blogs. We cannot “install” anything.I’m thinking you may have missed reading the sticky post at the head of the forum and may be posting to the wrong forum and actually ought to be posting here > http://wordpress.ORG.support/
wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG differences https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1

If this question is in reference to a free blog being free hosted by wordpress.COM then do note that we require you to post the complete and clickable URL starting with http:// for the blog in question when you post to this forum.
Hope this helps. -
timethief,
The re-install (of Vista) on my pc delivered the standard IE browser. I totally forgot that I used to use Firefox…
My blogs look truly awful in IE, now that I have Firefox back, the proportions show up OK, the template isn’t mangled any longer, and the Zoom remains in the format I choose.
So sorry about this, I simply didn’t think about browser choice, as I’m also used to IE on my pc with ‘old fashioned’ screen’ and thus more squarish screen.
This problem is solved. In my wordpress Personal Settings – Account I have rendered my main (Dutch) blog URL in ‘Primary Blog’, but on Account – My Username in ‘Website’ a different URL (because that’s my more accessible English blog). A moment ago I synchronized both addresses, thinking two different addresses created a conflict in clickable URL, but my name here on the forum does still not show up linkeable. That problem exists for two years now, I don’t know how to solve it and on previous queries about it I did not receive a reply.
I admit I could have added the URL at the bottom of the post, I usually do, this time I simply forgot. Sorry for that, as well.
