Restarting my Site

    Hi There! Yesterday I tried to start my website by following the steps to create a SELF hosted website through Bluehost. I was told to not use WordPress.com because it does not allow me to have a self hosted site (theoffenseproject.wordpress.com). Instead, I want to use Bluehost and WordPress.org so that I can easily control my own site. I am having trouble now because every time I edit my Bluehost blog it says ‘domain is parked’ and I can’t seem to delete my wordpress blog and start from scratch. I also wanted to save the domain name because it is the name of my business. Im sorry that this may sound confusing, but I too am a bit confused. I guess I just want to start over and be more aware of what I am doing, without losing the domain ‘theoffenseproject’.

    Hi there,

    This is the forum for websites hosted on WordPress.com. For your website, the team here might have limited access to your self-hosted website.

    I’ll recommend you to post your question to the WordPress.org forum which is specifically for self-hosted WordPress: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    Back to your question, I suggest contacting BlueHost support to help you in deleting the website or asking them about the ‘domain is parked’ error while you are editing your site.

    Hi there,

    Are you speaking of the domain, theoffenseproject.com? You cancelled that domain yesterday, so you no longer own it.

    I see when you cancelled your domain you received a full refund.

    As you want to use the domain somewhere else, the simplest option is just to wait. In this case the registry will release the domain again in a few more days, and you should be able to register it as a new domain, directly at Bluehost by early next week.

    We can also still restore it for you, but you won’t be able to transfer it away from us until you’ve owned it for at least 60 days. If you prefer this option, we can send you a link to pay for the domain again.

    Let us know which option you prefer.
