Restoration of fisherynation.com
-
I’m trying to restore my website. It is gone, thanks to go daddy.
I was using them for hosting (I thought) and was going to upgrade my hosting account. After spending hours on the phone, I received this email.
We looked into why the changes we were trying to make weren’t working. Originally you were transferred to me because the site was loading fine, but when automatically logging in to your wordpress.org dashboard you had latency issues. Between that and your domain being assigned as the primary on your hosting, I assumed the content being presented on your site was being hosted by us… Looking into it, your site has been redirecting to fisherynation.wordpress.com sense Aug 11th of 2015 (with masking, so it still just looked like fisherynation.com). So. None of the content that is up on your site was manageable via and wordpress.org dashboards, nor is it’s content in your hosting with us, its at wordpress.com…Moral of the story is, some of the changes we tried to make reset some DNS settings. All the content of your site however is still available at wordpress.com . I’ve done what I can to put DNS settings back in place to point properly to your wordpress.com site (with masking) so after the internet takes to the DNS settings it should resolve back to your site. I’ve also advised in your account that we should refund the managed wordpress hosting and sitelock feature, as it isn’t possible to migrate content form a wordpress.com site to managed wordpress hosting, or any hosting for that matter. You can call in to handle this tonight or any time at your leisure (I’ve been told to head home at this point). I apologize for this inconvenience.
This was an unfortunate misunderstanding on my part as well as the previous rep who transferred you in to me. We should have noticed that we weren’t even hosting your content. The small detail that your site has been being forwarded for nearly a year, would have tipped us off that we’re not hosting the site.
With that said, I need help, bigtime.
I do have back up files at drop box via the updraft plus plugin I purchased. I just can’t figure out how to do it.
