restore deleted site name
-
Hi there!
Quite a while ago, I deleted a site which was located at rycariad.wordpress.com. I have been trying to restore the name ‘rycariad’ by adding it as a new site. However, trying to register this name again gives the error message that the site already exists (it definitely doesn’t). The name ‘rycariad’ is important to me, and as such I would really like to move all of my content over to WordPress, but only using only the name as part of the URL.
Is it possible to restore the url rycariad.wordpress.com? I hope so – if not, I wouldn’t be willing to migrate my content over.
Thanks so much for your help,
Ryan -
https://rycariad.wordpress.com is no longer available. The authors have deleted this site.
Site deletion is a permanent and irreversible act. There are at least 3 warnings including an email verification link sent that must be clicked to delete a blog URL. https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
I am sorry but you cannot register a deleted blog URL. No one can use a deleted blog URL regardless of who registered it. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled here and you can confirm by reading:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/delete-blog/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/However, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.
