Restore domain to transfer to another platform

  Hello Support Team,

  I am very new to building a website and signed up to WordPress.com today. I purchased a plan that comes with a free domain for a year. Later today, I found out that I can get website hosting cheaper somewhere else, so I deleted the domain and cancelled my subscription for a refund. I would like to use the domain on the other platform, but it says it is not available. So I probably should have transferred it, instead of deleting it.
  How long will it take for a deleted domain to become available again? Or will it be possible to restore the domain to transfer to another platform, even without an active WP subscription?
  The domain was chasingourfreedom.com.
