Restore from WordPress Self Hosted Backup

I’ve got an UpDraft backup of my old self-hosted site and I’d like to set it up again on WordPress.com. I didn’t know there was an option to export a few years ago when I took down my old site so I don’t think I have an .xml file to import. Any ideas how I can move forward using my old UpDraft backup?

    Hi christinefaucherkelley0991,

I didn’t know there was an option to export a few years ago when I took down my old site so I don’t think I have an .xml file to import.

An .xml file will be needed to import content from a WordPress.org site, to WordPress.com:

    Import a Website

If you don’t have one, you could try the following:

    1. Create a temporary WordPress.org site
    2. Import the UpDraft file into that site
    3. Export from Tools > Export
    4. Then import the .xml file(s) to WordPress.com

That’s the best workaround I can think of but come back to me if you have any questions.
