Restore Home tab / reset theme to default
-
Hello,
I am new to wordpress and blogging in general. In the past weeks I played around with different themes and settled for the Nishita-theme. In the course of testing the different themes and options, I lost the default “home” page for the Nishita-theme and I cannot restore it.
People can reach my front page when clicking the header. However, I would prefer to have the default home-tab available, too.
Is there a possibility, to
a) restore the default “home” page?
b) reset the theme to “factory/default” settings and start from the scratch? Each time I change the theme and go back to Nishita, my changed settings are there again – including the missing home page. What I tried so far:
– Choosing a different theme that offers a home page. Going back to Nishita, the home page vanishs again.
– Creating a page and call it “home”. This creates a slug “home”. I can set this as my static front page, however the page title “HOME” will always appear on top of the page. I do not like this for aesthetically reasons. Furthermore, doing this, my android phone shows me two “home” pages in the header.
– I updated my browser. While my android phone shows the home page (before going on “show full page”), it is missing in Firefox, Chrome and IE.
– Creating a custom menu “home” and connecting it with the url of my blog works. My theme, though, just allows me one custom menu. I will need this later one. And after the theme originally comes with a default “home” page, I would rather use the default.
– Searching the forum if this question has been answered already in the past.– The “Hello World” page and “Hello World” post are gone for good. In the early stages of learning I deleted/replaced them and at some other point I emptied the trash to avoid further confusion. Wish, I would have tried these things in a test blog.
As I do not have any content yet, I would not mind to reset my blog completely, keeping the name and restart from the scratch to adjust the settings. I just do not know how to do this.
Any help is appreciated.

O.k. After days of looking for a solution, I found a way just minutes after posting my cry for help.
I will opt for the custom menu (Apppearance –> Menus) and create a custom menu “home” that I link directly to the front page. This way I avoid the page title “HOME” appearing on my front page.
I originally wanted to “save” the custom menu for later options to link to a website outside of wordpress (e.g. flickr or another blog). I found out, there are other options to do this. It is possible to create a new page, name it and insert a link into the page title. After publishing this page, the page will link directly to the website without opening inside of wordpress.
Hope this helps people with similar questions
