Restore my DNS records

  • Unknown's avatar

I only have one DNS record showing, but I should have several email-related records (MX, TXT, etc.) for my newly purchased WordPress email service to work.

I asked your AI chat and they said:

Since there’s no restore option visible and your email DNS records are missing, this needs expert attention to get your Professional Email working properly.

You should connect with human support – they can restore the missing email DNS records for your domain.

But they wouldn’t connect me with human support because it says I don’t have a paid plan, but I pay WordPress annually and now I’ve just added email, however it looks like I will not be getting any email from any site since after AI’s help it’s links have been deleted. PLEASE HELP!

I would like to reply – yes please help – but I can’t send email apparently.

  • Hey there!

I can see you’re stuck in a bit of a catch-22 situation with email not working. Let me help sort this out.

Since you can’t send email from the address linked to your account (which we’d normally need for account recovery), here are your other options to verify ownership. Please email us at passwordhelp@wordpress.com or help@wordpress.com with any of the following information:

    1. If you’ve made any recent payments (like for your annual WordPress plan or the new email service), you can provide the transaction ID from your billing history: https://wordpress.com/support/billing-history/#on-your-credit-card-statement
    2. Original activation email – if you still have a copy of the very first email we sent when you signed up for WordPress.com, that works too
    3. Two-step authentication backup codes – if you have these set up, you can use one on our secure Account Recovery form: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery (don’t send the code via email for security)

Once we can verify ownership, we’ll get those DNS records restored and your email working properly.

FYI, here is the complete guide on how to recover your account for more details.
