Restore Old Site?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello –

I changed the site address for my blog because I didn’t realize I could have multiple sites on my WordPress account (I have not used WordPress in a long time and I didn’t really understand how to use it then) and I would like to see if I can restore my old site at its original address and I’d just add the new one as a secondary site. I don’t mind losing all the changes I’ve made to the ‘new’ site.

    Please help!

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Is the only way to restore it to the old address via Jetpack is for me to upgrade to the Business Plan?

    Hi there!

I’m afraid that reusing the old site addresses is not possible, as outlined in the following guide:

Your WordPress.com site address is what people use to access your site. An example of a WordPress.com site address is example.wordpress.com. This guide explains how you can change the example part of the address to something else. You can, however, upgrade your site to any paid plan listed here: https://wordpress.com/pricing, and claim the “free domain for the first year” offer included with all paid plans :)

This way, you can register a domain which resembles your previously used site address (e.g., if you used myawesomeblog.wordpress.com before, you can check if the https://myawesome.blog is available for registering).

To learn more about the domain registrations, please refer to this link:

Every WordPress.com site comes with a free .wordpress.com address such as yourgroovysite.wordpress.com.  With a WordPress.com plan, you can add a custom domain name such as yourgroovydomain.com and show it in the browser’s address bar when someone visits your site. The free .wordpress.com address still works, but automatically redirects to your custom domain. Register a Domain With WordPres

We’d be happy to help with plan suggestions once you share what goals you have in mind for your site!
